REEL SEATS AND GRIPS
As illustrated here on this page, our reel seats are of several varieties.
The skeletal cork bodied seat (PBS) is a down locking unit with
nickel-silver sliding band and pocket. A companion seat is the PBSW,
using like fittings, but mounted on an oil treated mahogany or walnut barrel.
These sliding band-seats are flatted to accomodate the reel base and are made
in two sizes: the #750 and the #700. The #750 is generally used on 2 pc. rods
of over 7' where a sliding band reel seat is desired. The #700, a somewhat
smaller version, is generally used on rod of 7' and under. Although not necessarily
firm, it has been our policy, over time, to use screw-locking seats on all our
three-piece rods of 8' and over and on two-piece rods of 7'6" and longer. Our
screw-locking seats are either (PF) uplocking, and (PB) down locking. These
seats are comprised of an aluminum threade body and a nickel-silver pocket
all mounted on an oil treated black walnut barrel. Cork grips are completely
constructed of a on the "stick" from high grade cork and individually hand shaped.
